Have you ever wanted to publish your book – but can’t find a publisher to take it and don’t want to be ripped off by ‘vanity’ publishers?

There is an alternative.

At Scryfa we offer an individual service tailored to the needs of writers.

We provide the skills of professional editors and designers – and allow the writer/client to retain complete control over distribution and the terms of sale.

At Scryfa we will fully discuss your proposed book with you (without commitment or fee) and establish exactly the design, format and number of copies desired.

Our team will then quote a price for design and editing and a separate price for printing.

You will be involved at every stage of the process and given a full set of pre-press proofs to examine to ensure you are happy.

The entire print run will be delivered to you.

You have full control over sales. You can opt to distribute the books yourself to shops and other outlets, to sell via a website, at readings, or to place the books with a distributor.

Your book will be displayed on www.scryfa.com

At Scryfa we are committed to keeping all the work in the UK. There are cheaper options (particularly in China) but we feel it is an important principle to give the work to employers and employees in the UK (in Cornwall where possible).

What authors say about their experience of being published by Scryfa:

My book would not have gone to press without Simon’s input and editorial care; it would have languished in a drawer. Now that story is out there, being read and shared. I can’t thank him enough.

Amanda Harris, author of Behind The Lines

Scryfa publishes books that not only read well but are almost art objects in their own right, while Simon Parker’s long experience as both writer and editor ensures a mutual enthusiasm for getting your book out into the world.

Des Hannigan, author of The Almost Islandand The Long Deep

I had great support all through the process of publishing and my book is so beautiful.

Clare Dwyer, author of If Wishes Were Horses

Working with Scryfa on the production of Linkinhorne: The Story of a Cornish Parish was not only an enjoyable and most successful venture but also an introduction to the many other excellent titles from this independent and proudly Cornish publisher.

Peter Sharp, assistant editor Linkinhorne: The Story of a Cornish Parish

It would be hard to exaggerate the importance of Scryfa to the vitality of the literary culture of Cornwall. It’s the engine room, the big pulsing heart of it. It champions that culture and sends word of it out into the streets, the book shops, the living rooms of its terrain and the world beyond. Scryfa had the nerve and imagination to publish my first selection of poetry when probably no-one else would have touched it. That, for me, says a lot about the vision of this ferociously independent publisher, and why it has become such a pole of attraction for talented writers – new, emerging and renowned.

Neil Young, author of Lagan Voices

I would like, very much, to thank Scryfa and Simon Parker for all the hard work and commitment that he put into the production and publication of Under A Cornish Sky. My father, Arthur Caddick, could not have found a more enthusiastic supporter of his work than Simon. This delightful book of his poetry is a joy to read. Thank you, Simon.

Diana Calvert (Caddick)

Scryfa published my book in 2010 and I was delighted with it. There is a very beautiful cover and ‘feel’ to my book.

Jane Nancarrow, author of Stones and Shadows

The book is marvellous. I really love it. I'm thrilled with it, actually.

Brian Sherriff, subject of The Bras and the Bees

We all love the book and thank you for making the vision a reality.

Felicity Notley, author of The Bras and the Bees
