Now Then - Letters To Myself

by David Oddie

In 2022, David Oddie suffered a brainstem stroke and his survival was touch and go. His sense of identity was severely shaken by this near-death experience and, quite spontaneously, he began writing a letters to himself ‘now’ from different times throughout his eventful life. It was as if he was reintroducing himself to himself, reminding himself who he was. With humour and compassion, he tells of the family baking business in Burnley, boarding school, VSO in Africa, studying drama, a working as an actor and teacher, and travelling the world with the Indra Congress. The letters conclude with the moving story of his stroke, the severe challenges of recovery, and the love of family and friends
