A Certain Man

by Simon Parker

By collating the many notes and recordings he made of Charles Causley, Simon Parker has created a continuous monologue in the great Cornish poet’s own words, beginning with a Launceston childhood and taking in wartime service, first attempts at writing, teaching, literary success and old age. The book includes an academic essay on the poem, A Certain Man, by Professor Ron Tamplin, an account by Arthur Wills of his long friendship with Causley, and a story by Jane Nancarrow, a former primary school pupil of the poet, which describes a typical day in the classroom with this inspirational author and teacher. Published in a limited, numbered edition: 100 copies for 100 years to mark the centenary of Charles Causley’s birth. First edition now out of stock. Reprint available at reduced price.
